With a goal towards providing useful services to the UF community, UF IT is organized recognizing that there are common IT services required by the UF community as well as unique service needs resulting from the natural diversity in a large academic institution.
As a result, the IT organization at UF includes:
- A vertically integrated core organization that focuses on service needs of large sectors of the university community, and
- Unit IT organizations that address specific needs of Senior VP areas (Provost, IFAS, HSC and Administrative).
UF IT Core Units are:
- Academic Technology
The Office of Academic Technology (AT) provides resources, technical assistance, and equipment to assist the University of Florida faculty, staff and students. The three general divisions of AT include support for media services, instructional technology and teaching/learning. - Computing and Networking Services
CNS provides large-scale computing and networking services for the University of Florida, University of North Florida, and for other state educational institutions and agencies in northern Florida. The CNS facilities are used for instructional, administrative, and research computing. Divisions of CNS include Network Services and Telecommunications. - Information Security and Compliance
A new unit to be formed from the Health Science Center SPICE program and the Information Security Team, Information Security and Compliance has a mission to preserve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of restricted and critical data of the University.
- University Systems
University Systems supports UF-wide enterprise systems. Currently these services are provided by a variety of units including Bridges. Under the current UF IT Action plan these units are being reorganized into University Systems. - Web Administration
Web Administration coordinates the overall university Web presence by providing consulting and outreach assistance to other university offices and departments on campus. It is also responsible for ensuring that all Web page development meets UF's Acceptable Use Policy standards in order to meet the needs of UF's critical audiences.
Senior VP IT units are:
IT Units under the Senior VPs report to the corresponding Senior VP and to the CIO for policy, compliance and IT program development.
- Administrative IT
Administrative computing provides user support, workstation support, server-based services and web site maintenance to administrative offices across the University. - Health Science Center IT
Health Science Center IT Center provides coordination between the CIO and the Senior HSC-VP. It provides a single point of contact for all services including desktop support, develops and maintains data-rich systems in support of enterprise applications, provides essential central services such network operating systems support including e-mail, file sharing, security systems and data backup, and training for faculty and staff. - Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences IT
IFAS IT provides coordination between the CIO and the Senior IFAS-VP faculty and staff with general support services such as account maintenance, email, webhosting, security, videoconferencing, training and IFAS special applications such as EDIS, FAWN and DDIS. - E & G IT
E & G IT is a unit providing coordination between the CIO and the Provost. As with the other dual report groups, the E & G IT unit provides customized services to the nine E & G colleges reporting to the Provost and serves as an IT liaison between those colleges, the Provost and the CIO.
