Some of the phrases used in this report require definition to insure that readers of the report understand what is being proposed by the Task Force.
Academic information: Data and information related to the primary activities of the University, namely research, instruction, and public service.
Administrative information: Data and information related to management of the business and student affairs of the University, including but not limited to finance and budget information, student financial and academic records, and faculty and staff personnel
records.
Administrative Unit or Major Administrative Unit: Colleges, administrative divisions, schools, institutes, and centers.
Centralize: To assign responsibility to one individual or group in the administrative structure.
Consolidate: To form different groups of individuals and activities into a single unit.
Coordinator: That individual, group, or unit responsible for bringing together individuals for common action.
Information technology resources: All voice, video, and data networking, computing, related services, and personnel engaged in service
delivery.
Network: Media and protocols which exist to facilitate intercommunications among individuals.
Service providers: Those individuals or groups who are regularly engaged in providing help in the way of information, training, or physical labor, such as installation of equipment, to general users.
Workstation: Any terminal or personal computer, with associated communications and printing capability, used by an individual to perform work.
