University of Florida Identity Management (IdM) Policy

Purpose

It is important to have a reliable method of identifying members of the UF community. To manage increasing risks, the institution must have strong processes in place to properly identify members of the community and users of its systems.

Scope:

Elements of this policy pertain to everyone represented in the UF Directory as well as to individuals authorized to perform IdM functions on behalf of specified units. The Level of Assurance (LOA) of the identity information defines how certain UF is with regard to a specific identity credential and information related to the identity. More specific information for Level of Assurance requirements and handling may be found in the associated UF Identity Management Standards document.

Policy:

  1. University of Florida students, employees and other Level of Assurance 2 (LOA2) individuals must maintain accurate contact and demographic data in the UF Directory.
  2. IdM Coordinators must actively maintain complete and accurate data in the UF Directory in collaboration with, and on behalf of people within their scope of authority.
  3. Primary IdM Coordinators are responsible for assuring complete and accurate identity information for everyone classified as LOA2 members in their unit.
