Identity and Access Management
What is IAM?
Identity and Access Management (IAM) is an authoritative association of people with identifiers such as ID numbers and ID cards, access credentials such as usernames/passwords and authorization to access data and services. Identity and access management is fundamental for providing access to university services.
This web site provides information to the UF community requiring IAM processes and technologies. Comments

Think of UF security as being comprised of three pillars:
- Identification
Individuals affiliated with the university are first identified and their records maintained in the UF Identity Management (IdM) Directory registry. - Authentication
Individuals with affiliations that qualify may create a GatorLink account credential (i.e., a user name and password). GatorLink credentials are required to access many UF Web site components and applications. There are five assurance levels for GatorLink credentials: self-asserted, guest, basic, bronze, and silver. - Authorization
Authorization is where security roles come into play. Security roles authorize individuals to access and use components of myUFL and other service offerings. See more on the attributes available at http://www.it.ufl.edu/identity/shibboleth/ARP.html.
